Oran Mor gave me a sales update last Tuesday: that’s over 200 tickets sold for the show on 13 June! I am very relieved, the paranoia was starting to creep in that nobody would come. You can still buy a ticket at this link (not sure how many are left - don’t want to keep pestering Oran Mor for updates; obviously I would be obsessively refreshing the page if I had access). THANK YOU to everyone who has bought one so far, you have tangibly reduced my anxiety.
Having said that, I did have an anxiety dream last night where I forgot all my lines. But I did a quick living room rehearsal and it’s still all there. And I’ve started playing it over and over in my head when I go to bed again.
On Thursday I broke my no-character-comedy-at-the-clubs-rule and trialled “Aileen” at The Stand. I think it went reasonably well - the crowd were up for it, clapping along etc. But OMG I am so unfit. I was out of breath during the first song, panting my way through it. I need to get in shape, ASAP. I’m thinking of ditching the booze again, just for a few weeks. Much as I’ve been enjoying the Aperol spritz weather, it’s probably time to refocus. The daily ice creams need to stop too. I have no will power in this weather. Help.
Something nice
I had a wee nosey at Thornwood roundabout at the weekend, which has been getting a ‘glow up’, thanks to artists Lynsey Wells, Jennifer Olley, Thornwood and Whiteinch primary schools. The schoolkids’ illustrations have been arranged into a mural, which Lynsey was busy plotting out and painting - it’s already looking cute! Nice to see something positive happening in that spot instead of a shitty drive-thru or another crash.
That’s me away
Booked a holiday to Greece for later in the summer. I can’t wait for sea swims and souvlaki and chips (Greek chips are the best chips in the world, maybe it’s the olive oil?). The place we’re staying is described as “isolated” and “a hideaway” but there’s WiFi, so I can livestream the full experience. Just kidding! Sort of. The addiction is real.
Thus concludes another, not terribly exciting substack update. I’ll try and do something crazy this week, to give me something to write about.
In the mean time, this is the kind of thing that I’ve been thinking about.
I also thought this cartoon was extremely on point.
That’s the title: 99%
