I’m still basking in the post-show glow after “Aileen’s World Tour” and I plan to write about it properly soon. I’ve also been working on a mini documentary with tour highlights and behind-the-scenes footage, because I’m a bit extra and don’t know how to rest. Spinal Tap meets Dowanhill, coming soon!
In the mean time, I’m just checking in to alert my Substack family to the merch drop that my incredible artist collaborator Libby Walker just made on her website.
Libby had the genius idea to make some bespoke West end themed Christmas baubles. Illustrated beautifully, she has immortalised the Christmas Eve queues on Great Western Road, including Aileen’s fight with Joyce MacMillan outside I. J. Mellis.
The tea towels are back! As are Libby’s gorgeous prints. PLUS the best joke that I’ve made in t-shirt form.
My main motivation for taking Aileen on a “world” tour of Glasgow’s West end was the opportunity to have the PARTICKHILL, HYNDLAND, HILLHEAD dates on the back of a classic band t-shirt. Libby hand-painted the design and this was the result:
There are a few left, so if you’re a fan of band tees and hyper niche parochial jokes then grab yours online.
Reflections on the tour soon. Thank you so much to everyone who came along, it means a lot.
Time to catch up on three weeks of washing.
